PEFC Canada
Benefits of PEFC Canada Certified Wood
Beyond communicating sustainability principles, there are a number of reasons buyers and retailers will want to seek out Canadian wood certified to PEFC. Some of these include:
- Meeting customer demand -an increasing number of global users, particularly in Europe, are specifying wood from PEFC certified sources.
- Large supply - Canada has tens of millions of cubic metres of PEFC certified forest products available.
- Demonstrating responsibility for, and commitment to, sustainable forest management.
- Improving internal business efficiency by adopting a wood flow accounting system.
For importers of Canadian forest products, PEFC Canada can help access Canadian wood products that are PEFC certified. Specifically, PEFC Canada will provide contact information for leading Canadian wood suppliers that export wood products which are PEFC certified. Therefore, when you contact PEFC Canada, you will have access to millions of hectares of PEFC certified wood.
Canada uses the PEFC logo, which follows Annex 5: PEFC Logo Use Rules to assure the protection of ownership rights of the PEFC Logo. This document establishes the following rules and guidelines:
- Specification of who the owner and governor of the logo is
- Who has the right to use the PEFC logo and trademark
- What kind of claims are included in the logo
- In what kind of on and off product communication the logo can be used
- Specifications regarding the reproduction of the PEFC logo in printed and published form
Please contact Michèle Thinnes at PEFC International for any questions relating to PEFC label use in Canada.
